Two Goshen High School students recently won a $2,000 cash prize after pitching their idea for a workout aid during an entrepreneurial competition in Dayton.
Corbin Hinkle and Max Lowry won the Project Pitch Competition for their Lift Rite idea, a solution for avoiding tweaks, sprains, pulls, tears, and breaks while working out. The contest was part of the SCORE Dayton’s first annual Miami Valley High School Pitch Competition held at Beavercreek High School.
Ironically, Goshen High School had not planned to participate in the competition as it was limited to schools in the Dayton area. But when an opportunity arose due to students withdrawing from the event, Corbin and Max stepped forward to represent Goshen while navigating a full day of workshops and presentations from successful entrepreneurs. Little did they know their pitch would be the overall winner, earning them a cash prize.
Hinkle and Lowry had experience in creating and refining their product and their pitch from participating in the FlexFactor program, made possible at GHS through a partnership with Sinclair College. Through FlexFactor, GHS students showcase their creativity and problem-solving skills through pitches made during “Shark Tank”-like presentations.
